Starting May 2025: Navigating Political Stress & Your Mental Health Group

Feel your stress spike every time you get a news notification?

Notice yourself endlessly scrolling headlines, going down news rabbit holes, or shutting down because it’s all too much?

Navigating Political Stress & Mental Health is a 4-week, virtual therapy group for adults experiencing stress and overwhelm in response to current events and political news.

This online group is appropriate for adults 18 y/o + residing in New York who are interested in a short-term, respectful, and interactive therapy group that addresses the impact of political events or news on personal mental health. The group incorporates honest, supportive discussion and evidence-based strategies for managing strong feelings such as worry, anger, grief, helplessness, or numbness. Understanding the impact of broader social and political crises on our bodies and nervous systems, identifying a sustainable practice for personal news consumption, and sharing community resources will also be a key focus.

  • Enrollment for the May 2025 group now open

  • Meets Wednesdays 2-3p or Thursdays 6-7p

  • $30-40/group session

  • Groups are capped at 8 members

The group leaders are Dr. Crystal Chen & Dr. Sanjita Ekhelikar, who are postdoctoral fellows at Manhattan Therapy Collective with advanced clinical experience treating anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, and trauma from a multiculturally-responsive and identity-affirming lens. All members will be asked to schedule an introductory call with a group leader prior to the start to answer questions, discuss expectations, and ensure group cohesion.
